From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a specific drive to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers tables.
Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
